This does sound like a shift computer problem but ther are a couple of things to check first. Check the fluid for the correct level and condition, it should be betwen the high and low marks and shouldn't smell burnt. Check the cable adjustment from the throttle spool to the shift computer for proper adjustment. And finally check the wiring and plugs going to the shift computer. Make sure plugs are seated completly, connections are clean and none of the cables got melted on the exhaust pipes. The gear selecter could also be out of adjustment but not likely. Other possible but less likely causes are plugged filter, worn fluid pump, out of adjustment modulater, all could cause low line presure that improves as the fluid warms up. A definative test would be to check the line pressure as per the Workshop Manual.
