Two simple tests should locate your electrical problem. TEST #1 With the engine at idle and accessories off the electrical system voltage should be between 13 and 14.5 volts. With the engine at idle and all accessories on the electrical system voltage should be between 11 and 12.5 volts. Repeat the last test (accessories on) with the engine idle at 1500 RPM, the system voltage should be 12.3 to 13.7 volts DC. Measurements should be taken with a portable dc voltmeter with the electrical test leads connected between the jump start post and engine block. If by any chance your DeLorean is equipped with the factory installed Ducellier; replace it. Also check to see if your battery is discharging when the car is completely shut down. A slight battery drain overnight can cause low voltage at start up. NOTE: Be aware that the dash mounted volt meter reads approximately 1 to 2 volts below the actual system voltage. Two! Two questions in one! First. Here's the scoop: I keep forgetting to turn off the AC before I start the car. So, when I try to start the car with the AC on. I turn it over a few times and notice what I'm doing, so I stop and wait. The compressor, cooling fans, and starter drain the battery enough to make it sluggish even when they are all turned off. What's the largest battery everyone is using? How many cranking amps should I shoot for? [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
