Mike, I had similar problems and did a major tuneup (can get a kit from DMC Houston, DMC Joe, PJ Grady, etc..). This solved most of my problems in one shot and was well worth the time/money. Of course the symptoms you speek of could be caused by several other items not the least of which could be bad fuel.
