The only problem I've heard of regarding the timing chains is related to the
tensioners. They're hydraulic in that oil pressure keeps them tense. There's
a small plastic filter screen in the orifice that feeds the oil to the
tensioner and a severely overheated engine can melt the plastic to a point
it restricts oil flow to the tensioner which results in loose chains and
erratic valve timing.
