AC Compressor wont come on

Hello,
now that it is 70 out I can no longer drive my car until night time 
because the air conditioning will not come on. when I turn the A/C on the 
cooling fans dont come on and the compressor doesnt engage. I tested the 
wire at the compressor and it is not getting power. any ideas on what this 
could be? I have Mr. Herveys fan fix and new 40A circuit breakers installed. 
The cooling fans cycle on and off like they should but I still havent had 
the compressor come on since I bought the car. any ideas?
one last thing, and I checked the connections on the mode switch and they 
are fine.
