Why are you touching the fuel accumulater? The only reason to replace it is if you are having hard hot start problems. Assuming that is the reason your mechanic is correct, it is very difficult to access. You need small hands and stubby wrenches and a lot of patience. If he didn't want to do it consider yourself lucky that he gave up before twisting and kinking any fuel lines. Find yourself a mechanic who will try a little harder, maybe someone in your area can recomend another shop or a Delorean vender can help you find someone who can do it. In any case before you go replacing it make sure it is bad.
