RE: [DML] Remote starters

Re Remote starters. I have one of different brand names in each of two
cars...one in the Lincoln Continental and one in the DeLorean....I have had
the DeLorean setup for about four years. Both had optional kits for a
straight stick car and were legal. As I recall, the one in the D was around
$50 extra for this option. It is called "Auto Command Remote Car Starter".
This company also makes a module that is easily installed, called "Lights
On". I have this also. It is like the newer cars that turn the lights on
when it gets dark and off in daylight or when you turn the key off after a
small programmable delay. Both have been very reliable and have never
failed me. I rarely use the key to start the car. It sure is nice for
both winter and summer to start the car 5 minutes or so in advance. It
DOES cause a lot of puzzled expressions and questions when I get to the car
tho! Ha. In the D, I have it programmed to run the starter for 2 seconds,
and if it does not start it waits 20 seconds two more times if need be and
tries again.....The only time it has ever gone to the second try for ME is
in the dead of winter when it has not been started for a week or more. It
can be programmed to run the starter for 4 seconds or longer too. I have
the address for the one in the D, but I have not been able to locate the
address for the one in the Lincoln.

I have many "stories" re the remote start......the other day a lady said she
saw me go near the car and it started. I quite often just press the button
while in my pocket. I put something in the car and went back to another
store......she was still out there when I came back but this time with her
husband, and said she had walked all around the car to see if proximity
would start it! Ha. One day an elderly lady was near the car and getting
ready to put here groceries in her car when mine started up.....I did not
see her and was several cars away. I usually refrain from doing things like
that on purpose at least....it startled her so that she dropped her grocery
bag and it broke and I helped her pick it all up and out from under my car
even. She was not mad tho....thought it was pretty funny. Many located me
inside a restaurant and told me I left my lights on and my car is
running.....I usually start it about the time I finish eating and before I
pay the tab.

Let me know if you want the address or any further info.
