RE: [DML] grinding noise

Mat,
It may be your fuel pump making noise. When the fuel level gets low, and
you have been driving for a while, the pump will cavitate. The cavitation
happens because the fuel has heated up because of recirculation, heat from
the cooling pipes and air blown from the radiator fans. Also, the rubber
fuel pump suction line can collapse when it gets warm, or maybe there is a
tear in it that becomes exposed when the fuel level drops.
