Les, The sound you are describing indicates water damage to your horns. This is common in the DeLorean due to the close proximity of the horns to the ground. If your horns are factory originals they do have the tone adjustment you described. In some cases after disassembly and cleaning you may be able to return your horns to there original sound. On the other hand it is probably more cost effective to replace them with either factory originals or generic replacements available at most auto supply stores.
