hey group!
i would have to agree with you guys that comparing the DeLorean to other cars will always get you in trouble, but I don't think that is what is holding its value down. in my eyes there are two main factors that keep values down. the first is the cars uniqueness. to those of us who love DeLoreans it is the cars biggest selling point. but let's face it, the DeLorean is so unique, it is clearly not for everyone. the other factor is misinformation. as we all know there are a lot of wild rumors, and preconcieved (sp??) notions about the DeLorean. and i have noticed the people who love to bash the DeLorean the most, are the people who know the least about it. i could use my parents as a case and point. about a year ago they were hardened "DeLorean haters." that was because they relied on all the "misinformation" they had always heard about the car. but in the last year or so, i have drug them to look at a half-dozen or so DeLoreans, and their view of the car has changed drastically (to the point where they were going to buy a D for me, instead of me paying for it!). this is maily thanks to them meeting a few very friendly, and informative owners (thanks brian, darren, and ralph!), who dispelled all the common rumors to them. in fact, one owner had written up a flyer he was giving out at a car show, which gave a brief history of the car, company, man, and dispelled all the common rumors about the car. it also listed web sites, books, and the DeLorean parts suppliers, so if you really wanted to learn even more about the car you could. i think it would be so great if all the DeLorean owners would do this. just think of the effect it could have! well, as usual, i had to add my 2 cents.... -Louie Golden
