Which brings up the questions why did they stop putting the clock in and what did they put in it's place? With respects to your question it is possiable that someone installed one after the fact. It's also likely that the facts are not 100% correct in all aspects. Try straighting out details on VIN's from early Lotus Esprit's thats a nightmare and a half.
