Another note on the engine running rich, It can and will clog the 
Catalytic converter. Inside the cat is a ceramic type material that 
is in the shape of a honeycomb with very tiny holes. If the emision 
is sooty (or to rich) it will clog these small holes and constrict 
your exhaust. That can also cause your cat to glow red.
