William, Your knowledge of "Classic Cars" seems a bit setchy. I have made a living for the last 21 years by re-chrome plating bits from other peoples "Classic Cars". Everthing from THE Rolls Royce silver Ghost, to modern Aston Martins, E type Jags etc. For many of these cars all sorts of parts have to be re-manufactured at great expense to keep these cars running, which the, often wealthy owner's happily do. With our beloved De Loreans, most parts are readily available "of the shelf" from people like DMC Huston, DMC Joe etc. as very modest costs. We are very lucky that our chosen car is so robust and reliable. I only know of one chassis that is rusted (in the Irish republic) and compared to say, an E type, that repair would be a breeze. As for values , I have personally sold 2 cars in the last year for $29, 000. each. Deloreans will still be around, and very sort after, for many years to come. Buy your books second hand. As for the next generation of DeLorean purchases / enthusiasts, I have had a young man, Mike, age 16, at my house for 3 hours today, looking at my memorabilia, sitting in my car, going for a trip out ( in the rain!) and generally enjoying himself greatly...these are the next generation of D owners, who will ensure the car and the name John Z DeLorean, lives on long after I am "pushing up daisy's".
