Wait...the first shop said it was an exhaust manifold and the second said it was a HEAD gasket? Are you sure the second one didn't say exhaust manifold gasket? That's the most likely scenario. The exhaust manifold gaskets go out on the DeLorean quite often. I need to do that repair to my car now. You can probably just take it to another emissions shop and they'll pass it. A bad head gasket would never give the same symptoms as a cracked exhaust manifold.
