It's reasonable to let the car idle for 10 seconds when first started, whether it's turbocharged or not. 2-3 minutes is too much and is what the owner's manual is warning against. This sort of thing doesn't affect only turbo bearings but also many engine parts and it's why I think you should drive gently at first. Anyone who backs out of their garage on boost probably has more problems than the life of their turbo bearings! :}
