Dear DML, The initial DeLorean Motor Cars LTD retained and contracted with the very best that the automotive industry had to offer. DeLorean hired leading firms with professional automotive engineers, designers with countless years of professional experience. The Bricklin car on the other hand is an interesting concept. Herb Grasse was an antique literature dealer in Cave Creek Arizona. He was also one of Malcolm Bricklin' right hand men and chief designer of the Bricklin automobile. When I purchased a substantial amount of literature and books from him, he said that his Bricklin involvement led him to John DeLorean in 1974-1975 just at the time DMC was formed. Evidently, John DeLorean had contacted him to design a sketch of the DeLorean Safety Vehicle concept....Herb had prepared a slide show, and sketched design elements of John DeLoreans' concept....DeLorean was not impressed with the Bricklin Vehicle, company, or the concept and design that the young designer sketched. The winner of the bid and designer of the DeLorean was Giugiaro of ItalDesign. ItaLDesign is one of the most renown industrial design studios specializing in primarily automotive and industrial design. Many of the automotive upper echelon in the business have contracted ItalDesign to sketch their cars, like Lexus GS 400, Lotus, Bugatti, DeTomaso Mangusta, and DeLorean. Michael
