In response to this and the other '83-ism, my 1983 Canadian D (vin 17106) had the following characteristics that I didn't think were part of the "regular" D and which I know has not been added by myself or the previous owner (I'm the 2nd owner, he purchased it new) The interior is grey with black sunvisors, it has the fully metric gauges, the 'small' exhaust pipes, the trailing arm shield studs are the one piece strip, not individual, it has a block heater. And probably one of the odder things, which can in an envelop from DMC Houston, (which I'm not sure they intended to or it was stuck inside) is the fuel filler sticker ... in French.
