I took out my crappy craig and put in a great panasonic cd player.
I left all of the speakers in and also added a subwoofer (which I mounted in
the luggage compartment behind the driver seat)
The hardest part of the conversion was getting the old stereo out without
removing the whole console and dash. I loosened the stereo, pushed it back
into the console, cut the stock console mounting bracket and pulled the deck
out from the front. Once I put in the new deck mounting box, the air vents
had to rest on top of them.
Your question:
I did not have to re-wire any speakers, I just had to play with the existing
wires. The old speaker wires are still ok to use. Even though they share a
ground on the Craig stereo wiring harness, there are still 2 wires coming
out of each speaker.
Just pan and fade your stereo to "Right front" and test each of the 8 wires
until you determine which is which.
These are the four pairs of two that you hook up to the speaker outs on your
new deck. I suggest that you fade your volume a little to the rear as to not
blow out the front speakers with the power of a fresh deck. I sell the
subwoofer conversion kits if you are interested---
