For Pete's sake!

Sorry just could not help my self......:-)

Yes there is a way to give your D that new car smell. It works better
if you have cleaned up the interior so that is more or less neutral.

To get the odor to really remain you have to sacrifice a bit and close
both Gullwing doors all the time the D is sitting. (Doors should be leftopen)

T create new car smell you will bee a aluminium pan, door sealant, about
a square fool of the newest vinyl plastic sheeting (like Naga hide) Contactrubber
contact cement, at lease a square foot of real leather more is better, someplastic
drop cloth, Windex glass cleaner, paper towels, and you will need access toone of
those document shredders.

To understand how re-odorizing your D to smell "NEW" it is important tounderstand
why a new car smells like it does. If you look at the list of materials youcan see that
they are all things found in the interior in the first place. So in thesimplest terms all
we are doing is re introducing the same odors from the same sources.

Start by shredding both the vinyl and the leather. Place each in a largezip lock bag.
Heat the bag with the vinyl in an oven with a pilot like or under a 100 wattlamp until worm.
Dampen the shredded leather and then heat it the same way.A temp of 100degrees F is fine.

Lay out the plastic drop cloth on the shelf behind the seats. In thealuminium pan spread out a bout half and half the door sealant adhesive andrubber cement. On each side place the worm zip-lock bags. Spray some windexon a crumpled paper towel and place in the aluminum pan that you spread therubber cement and door seal adhesive in. Open both zip-lock bags and thenclose both Gull wing doors. wait several days and the remove the materials, move your D out side and let it air for a few minutes, close doors and waitanother hour. Now just get in your D. You will get a faint hint of that NEWCAR SMELL. The longer the materials remain in the D the more pronounced thesmell will be and the longer it will last. The smell will never be aspronounced as a NEW CAR, but this approach works! You should re worm thevinyl and leather every few days to get the best effect. The materials intheir raw form in the back of the seats will not smell like a NEW CAR, andin fact you may not even be able to sit in your D with the doors closedwhile the materials are in use. The nose is a funny organ and can on theone hand distinguish all the separate smells of the materials, while laterthere will be just that one NEW SMELL that does not smell like and of thematerials. Also after a few minutes the smell will seam to fade, it not, just your nose becoming saturated.

Good Luck and enjoy!
