I must respond to this posting on a personal note, although I normally prefer to keep everything here on the DML neutral and friendly. I know the majority of viewpoints from people are, "Say what you like about the man, but leave the car alone." My feeling is this, leave BOTH alone! In all honesty, the engineering achicevements of JZD have save the lives of 3 generations of my family alone, not the mention the countless other hundreds of thousands of people who have been involved into moderate to major auto accidents. BTW, as I recall on one of Richard Nixon's tapes, it was Lee Iacoca who said "...safety is killing the auto industry...", and it was he who also decided NOT to install an $11.00 extra a car safety feature for shoulder straps in the rear seats of Mustangs, which also claimed their fair share of lives. And lets not forget about the drop-in rear gas tank! As I also recall, it was JZD who helped push to have the $8.00 stabilizer bars installed onto Corvairs because GM had already flipped over numerous test cars over on thier test tracks before the car ever even entered production. And when they denied the request, they ended up with a car that was "Unsafe at any speed", and had THE highest death rate of any vehicle that has ever been on the road! On top of all this, I can't think of a single reporter in this entire world that has ever had anything nice to say about John DeLorean, or anything that he has ever done. In closing, please think about what you wish to say before you say it. You never know just who's feelings you might end up hurting... -Robert Greed: The greed of GM to destroy a small company that posed to threat... Deceit: The back-stabbing of a trusted employee, and an entire country that lied and went back on their promises... Money: The only company in the U.K. to turn a profit it's first year, and a $6 million dollar one at that...
