Greetings....
The laws that cover emissions are federal and have very high fines for
disabling any component. these federal laws are copied in state statutes
and are applied by each state and federal officials. Local law enforcement
officers can write tickets against both the state laws and federal. It is
illegal in any state to remove the "cat" or any emission device. The
federal fine for "cat" removal is $ 10,000.
Some states do not enforce these laws but drive over the border into another
state they can fine you. Pennsylvania does this all the time...
The modern "cats" do not rob your engine of any noticeable power but remove
it and plan to pay $ 10,000 to your state cash box....

Could someone else please comment on this if they can! Is it true? A $10K
fine for removal of the catalytic converter? Also if you have any info from
VA or NC or CA please speak up!
