Rick,
The safety campaign DMC Joe referred to consisted of three
things in regard to the front end. First there were re-enforcing brackets bolted
in place under the mounts that tie the front sway bar to the frame. This was
done because the front part of the frame where those mounts are attached is
too thin and as the car made turns and the sway bar strained it would "oil can"
the sheet metal on the frame. The extra bracket eliminated that and prevents
future problems. The second update replaced the nyloc nuts on the upper and
lower ball joints with castellated nuts. The ball joint studs were then drilled
out so a cotter key could be inserted though each one . The last update added a
second nut to the threaded end of the sway bar ends, installed and locktighted
behind the original. It's rather important to be sure your car has this done.
The kits are available from the various DeLorean shops. When the dealers did
this update they sprayed a red dot on the firewall, behind the engine.
