I have restored 11 Deloreans so far and Generic works fine if you know what you are looking at. How little can a person know about autos if they think that Auto Zone sells parts that dont work. There will always be a top line and a low line of auto parts. The low line may not last as long as the expensive parts, but they do work great. (most of their parts seem to look better when installed upside down!) I would far rather get a master cylinder from one of the DMC specialty shops, (possibly paying a many $$ more) and know that it's correct for my DMC, than deal with some "fast-Eddie's auto parts" one size-fits all, scandanavian replacement.>> This type of message is very disturbing to me. If you don't recognize some of the product lines at Auto Zone than you must not be very familiar with auto parts manufacturers. Auto Zone is not "some fast-Eddie's auto parts". They have well over 1400 stores nation wide. Besides that in the original post it was said that it was the exact same part, right down to the casting numbers. Not a "generic". <<In short, generic SUCKS! Buy the real thing, or get an automobile a bit less tempermental about parts choice... like a '77 Pinto.>> And on a more personal note. I always wonder why when someone disagrees about something that someone is doing to their DeLorean, the offended person tells the other guy to get rid of his DeLorean and buy something else. I guarantee that no two DeLorean owners are alike. They range in age, up bringing, income, location, etc. That to me is what makes DeLorean owners so great. They are all different. They all own the car for different reasons. And they all have their own ideas of what should and shouldn't be done. I think we should all respect that and try to be more factual and a little less opinionated.
