You no doubt will have expert advice on this one so here are some simple test.

Find a jumper cable and by-pass the starter solenoid (battery to starter
side of the solenoid). The starter should come to life. If it does not,
check your ground to the battery.
you will know the starter is good. If you don't get a running starter try
the jumper at the starter terminal, again it should run, if not the starter
is the problem.

You can use a trouble light to test if the start solenoid is functioning.

AS the relay stuff: that past any thing I have done on the D so I leave
that to others.
