I haven't seen as much bad press on the De Lorean, as I have in 1999. Hopefully 2000 will be better... Here's the article in full text, January's Car and Driver p. 60. Loser: John "This Is as Good as Gold" De Lorean's car-manufacturing enterprise went stainless-steel belly up in 1982. After a mere 17 years of haggling, insults, back stabbing, $30 million in legal fees -and, well, those ugly drug charges of which Johnny D. was acquitted in '84 -a settlement has at last been reached. In 1999, a judge ordered that $28 million be paid to De Lorean's 260 creditors in hopes that none of them, including the 125 law firms that participated in the festivities, would ever again utter the "D" word. The highlight of the De Lorean sports car's career, as everyone knows, was its appearance in a science-fiction movie starring a very small person named Fox.
