J, I had the same problem. What happened was the rods got out of sinc. I had to pull the top of the door panel off and mess with the rods again. What seemed to do the trick was disengaging the lock rods while lifting up on the door handle. It seems the door latch got closed and the lock engaged while the door was opened so when it was closed it jammed everything shut.
