I'm an 18 year old male and got insurance for my DeLorean--eventually. First of all, I'm NOT listed as the primary driver of it. I'm listed under the least valued car, the Yukon which I hardly ever drive. I'm still covered for the other cars including the D. We do this mainly to save money. If I was listed as the primary driver on my daily car, a 93 Allante, my insurance would be upwards of $3000-$4000 every six months. With the Yukon, I'm paying about $900 every six months and still have the same coverage and rights as I would paying 2-3 grand more. Now, I did have a problem with State Farm taking the D. They wouldn't put it under a normal policy, it had to go under the "classic car" policy which has limits the milage to under 2000 annually. It listed at $20,000 with a $1,000 deductable. I think we pay $124 bucks every six months for it. (But that's with multi car, good student discount, no reported violations) So if you're having this much trouble you may need to insure under someone else's name with you as a secondary driver of the car. But if you insure that car alone with another company, don't forget that you'll pay a second set of premiums. That's why I had to stay with State Farm. Good luck!! --Jonathan #000697
