BTTF movies were a product of the DeLorean?!?!? Uh, no no no.... I don't think so. There were other items considered for the movies, but they decided on the DeLorean. Don't get me wrong, I love these cars too. (obviously, because I have one!) But I think it's kinda arrogant to say that these cars had anything to do with the creation of the movies. Sure, it played an interesting role, and no doubt parts in the movie were changed to make the car look "cool", but I still think there would have been the BTTF movies if the DeLorean was never created... there just would've been another time machine other than a DeLorean.
