> all DeLoreans were fitted with exhaust muffler heat shields Sorry to disagree, Joe, but #923 was not. I looked very carefully at the lower muffler brackets and compared them to the ones on my other car - the tabs to hold the heat shield were not there and clearly had not been removed. It is the only DeLorean I ever saw that way, but apparently #925 is the same. 923 has resided in Texas since 1995, so if the current owner is online, will he please go out and look, and tell me I'm not totally senile? Someone else asked about owning more than one DeLorean. In the 14 years I have been driving them, I have owned 6 including the "DeLorean in a bedroom" car with 81 miles on it; plus I have parted out 6 more. For one week in 1995 I actually had 4 at one time. I don't think its that unusual for us fanatics, and when my business was thriving in the pre-divorce days I was able to acquire several real bargains. Five of the 6 I had cost between $3,000 and $10,000 each; 4 were restored and sold for a modest profit and I still have 2 (the 2 cheapest I had purchased). My supercharged car cost $4,000 with either 12 or 17,000 miles on it - I forget which. Bargains are out there if you are willing to search, take a chance, and work. And in the process you can save the "life" of a classic. Of course in my case it did help having some 10,000 "spare parts".
