dynomometer testing tests the power output of an engine. This is down either with the engine on a test stand (you see this in Hot Rod or Car Craft Magazines) or at the wheels output. The car drive wheels are put onto a large drum that is geared to a water wheel in a large tank. As the wheels turns they generate heat in the water by friction which is a measure of the horsepower output of the car. This is the first test of deloreans that actually will measure the output of car at the wheels. This is the best measure to compare performance. Lastly, year we tested a stock 5 speed.
