If it is coated in oil, I doubt very much that its the gasket for it that is leaking. most of the time it usually comes from a higher up source on the engine ie;rockercovers, oilpressure switch on drivers side of engine or most likely a crankshaft seal. One amazing thing about the D engine is that it has a very high capacity oil sump 6.8 qts so call it 7 qts. most cars have between 4 and 5 qts. It would be best to change the oil first before just adding anything too the existing oil. This way you know where your at to begin with. I personally use a fully synthetic oil but thats my choice. You don't have too. Any top grade oil will do, as long as you change it on a regular basis. the owners handbook recommends ever 7500 mi. if you use the original Purflux type oil filter. btw: thats the european standard for oil change intervals. typical US is every 3000mi. The purflux filter is recommended by all the delorean suppliers because it is made differently than your typical american brand name filters. I use a 5w-50 grade oil but the standard 10w-30 or 10w-40 is fine depending on the climate you drive in. Just remember that when you go to your local parts store for engine related items to tell them you have an 81 volvo 260 series with the B28F engine this will get you most things for your engine, but not all. Some items are delorean specific availiable only through your favorite delorean supplier.Btw; the use of a delorean parts supplier is highly remmended unless you enjoy trying to chase down parts for an obscure vehical like the delorean.IMO Dennis vin 5180 ________________________________________________________________ Get FREE voicemail, fax and email at http://voicemail.excite.com Talk online at http://voicechat.excite.com
