One of the previous owners of my D put in an Alpine alarm system many years ago. It works fine for locking/unlocking the doors, and it will scream bloody murder if jolted. I don't know how hard it was to install, but I do know that there is an abundance of extracurricular wiring in my relay compartment, some of which is even labeled. :-) I think the problem installing a new alarm is trying to figure out the Lucas electricals, and even a wiring diagram may not help.
Personally, I want the James Bond Security System (i.e., thief removes "DMC" logo from grill, car blows up.)

Subject: [DML] car alarm for DMC?
Hi, all-
Do the gull wing doors cause any significant problems when trying to
install a car alarm? Most car alarm specialty places I have called haven't
installed into a DMC-12, but assume that everything will go without a hitch.
I have no doubt that they *believe* they can do it, but I am sending out
feelers to find out if anyone has had problems with the installation of a
car alarm.
