Actually, Don Steger (Delorean Motor Center) has, in his shop, a DMC with an approximately 500hp Intercooled Buick Grand National Turbo in it. It uses a DeLorean manual transmission with a custom-made bellhousing welded up from the original and a Buick part. This car does tend to eat transmissions, though.
