Both the front and rear "fascias" (bumpers) on my car are starting to fade, and the paint is coming apart on the horizontal surfaces. I have a DAU paint code to match the original color, however the guy at the auto paint store said I would need plastic primers, flexibilizers, stabilizers, etc in addition to the paint itself. The total would be about $240 for just the materials. Then I would have to borrow a paint gun, and try to do the job myself. It doesn't sound like a good project. How have other people dealt with fading paint? Would an auto body shop strip, prime and paint them, if I took the bumpers off the car? Has anyone had any experience with sending the fascias out to be painted? Where?
