I had a front end alignment today. All went well, except that I now have a loud clucking/whapping sound coming from the Driver rear axle. This happened last year and it turned out to be some of the rear axle bolts had come loose. with this knowledge, I looked underneath and lo and behold several of the bolts on the tire side near the boot had come loose. I tightened them up and figured that would be that.......Wrong. I went for a sunset drive tonight and all of a sudden...wap,wap, wap, upon acceleration. I nursed it home, and at one point sounded like it has stopped but then reappeared. I know the bolts are tight and I know that clunking as you turn is a common problem but does anyone know what I'm up against? All was fine until the front alignment....The guy didn't even go near the rear end of the car so it can't be anything he did. I searched the archives for this but mostly found the above mentioned clunking issue. I'm supposed to go to Rob's in August from Maine to New York. I'm concerned this may be a more serious problem than I may be aware of. For now, my car is in the barn until I can figure it out. Any help or advise would be appreciated!
