Carol, DMC Joe, Et al, In reference to a clogged air conditioning system, I have been there. It can and does happen. It is believed my clog came from some sandlike substance breaking up in the old style accumulator. The oriface tube was stuffed solid, and all the lines had to be cleaned out with a special kit. Since I was spending a fortune anyway, I took the giant leap and replaced the old style accumulator with the new one, replacing the hose and all. Then I had it recharged with R-134 to see how that would work. It cools fine. If R-12 cools more than R-134 I would imagine it could get pretty cold in that car. For anyone wanting to convert, if you do not like the R-134, it's not a difficult process to change back to R-12. Your shop evacuates, changes the oil in the compressor, and recharges.
