Actually modern oils and filters are so resistant to breakdown and contamination that even manufacturers of new cars are recommending longer change intervals. The primary use of synthetic oil is that it is extremely resistant to very high and low temperatures. Because of this it makes an excellent winter oil, especially for manual transmissions. If you drive your D in the winter (and you don't live in Texas, or Florida, or something) the use of synthetic will save a lot of wear and tear on the mechanicals. If you store it in the winter, you should be flushing all your fluids when you take it out of storage anyway, so it won't matter. :} It's also good for high-intensity driving for the same reasons, but most D's don't get used in that way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: http://www.egroups.com/group/dmcnews http://www.egroups.com - Simplifying group communications
