To All, Sherman Williams, PPG Industries, and DuPont were contacted by DMC to submit information on procedures for painting stainless steel panels, check out DMC Service Bulletin ST-02-2/82 for all the details. Page 101 of Stainless Steel Illusion has details on experiments with painting the stainless. Paragraph two reads: "A far more intriguing way JZD considered for adding color to his sports car was with new body panels. Not stainless steel or metal, but soft urethane plastic bolted in place of the metal panels. The plastic would not only add color but would be highly resistant to small dings and bumps to the body surface. We may not of heard the last of this bright idea." That last line strongly relates to the recent stories talking of John building a plastic bodied sports car. As James has mentioned, and I agree, we have run this subject into the ground. If you need additional information pertaining to this subject you can email us directly. Please, facts only, no speculations.
