I finally got my chance - a few years ago I picked up a very low mileage car for only $4,000. Another DeLorean owner and I were going to go halves on it, but at the last minute he chickened out. It was a very early car, ugly Suntan color, with the AMC drivetrain. It still had the slow hydraulic doors and some significant damage to the top of the door skins, but otherwise was quite nice. But it was like driving a Javelin. It also felt like a thrown-together kit car, and it got many more comments than the DeLorean ever did - only they were all negative. The one I loved was that it "looked like a Saab eating an eight-track tape". Anyway, it was probably the worst car I have ever owned, and after a long two months or so I was able to persuade my formally reluctant "partner" to take it off my hands.
