Well, the way I counter that is the fact that you may pay only 15k-25k, but you're going to put almost another 10k-15k into the car to make it absolutely picture perfect. People today want a car that is absolutely pristine - no flaws or inferior pieces to note by eye or ear. To get the DeLorean to that plateau, you're going to put ALOT into a DeLorean to get it "perfect". I can buy a 85 Mustang that'll run for $5k, that's not disappointing - that's expected. So it's an exotic, that's only categorial. You can get a 1980 Ferrari GTS for $30k - it's an exotic about the same age as a DeLorean. Heck, even a Lambo Countach (sp?) is around $75k, no disappointments here. If you want to get your DeLorean absolutely in every single way imaginable, you will put in as much as a new Lincoln or Mercedes SUV. Carpets, glass, exterior bodywork, headliners, wiring, console work, dash work, doors, engine work - easily as much as a new SUV. --- Videobob Moseley <videobob@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > > There is a Toyata dealership in Irving, Texas near > where I live that used to > be a DeLorean dealership, > they have a new unused black/83/auto that they claim > they want $75,000 for > since it > is still new and never used or titled. > So sometimes I will tell them, "if you want one, > they have one in Irving for > $75,000" > That usually shuts them up. > > People expect the car to be worth something like > half a million or > something. > Since your average luxury SUV will set you back $50K > it is dissapointing to > hear > that you can get a exotic sports car for less than a > Honda Civic. > > - VB > > >From: "ryanpwright" <yahoo1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > >Reply-To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > >To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > >Subject: Re: [DML] a humble opinion > >Date: Sat, 11 Dec 2004 02:54:43 -0000 > > > > > > > > > >--- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "Jennifer Moe" > <jennymoe4@xxxx> wrote: > > > > > > That and how much did you pay? > > > I always tell them what they want to hear, I > think that is part of > > > the allure to the car. > > > > > > > > To address comments privately to the moderating > team, please address: > moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx > > For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for > sale see www.dmcnews.com > > To search the archives or view files, log in at > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnews > Yahoo!
