Regarding brake lights not working. Often the printed circuit board in the tail light system loses connection. This has to do with the original riveted soder joints. I was told by Houston DMC that the factory approved method of repairing this was to take a nail set and place it in the rivets and hammer it to spread the rivet out. I did this and it worked very nicely because I had several lighting problems in the tail lights. If it' just the brake lights it might be something else as well.
