What you spend on a car to win a concours bears no relation to the absolute value of the car. It is possible to spend $3,000,000 on a car and the car is "only" worth $2,000,000 at auction. BTW I am just guessing but the $3,000,000 probably didn't include purchesing, shipping, etc. In the Stratospheric World of Pebble Beach you can't put a price on ego. The point is you can always spend more money on a car then it could ever be worth. Most people would pull out their reciepts from the mechanic and agree. It is just that this is magnified and exaggerated in the world of Concours Judging. Concours is certainly not for everyone but for the ones that want to compete it offers everyone else a peek at the "best of the best"!
