I don't know if they changed the wire color over the different production times of the DeLorean, but in my car (Oct '81 build, VIN 5302) all speaker wires are black. Have you compared with the driver's side yet? It should have the same set of black wires. One is plain black, and the other is black with a white stripe. The one with the white stripe is positive, and has a wider connector going to the speaker. I just replaced both my front speakers, and remember there being some purple wires near there on the passenger side. These have nothing to do with the speaker.
