Honestly, I wouldn't try to see if the light comes on by running your car out of fuel. You may also end up having to buy DMCH's fuel pump if you do and possibly push your car home I have their sender as well, and it takes a really low tank to get the light to come on. Also makes your fuel pump whine for fuel and possibly burn up. If you really, really must see that light come on, you could swap your seatbelt indicator with it.
