[DML] Re: Manual Transmission fluid change

Not very easily. The switch rides up against a large ball bearing
that rides against one of the shifting rods inside the transmission.
You'd have to find a way to pressurize the oil, 90-weight is not
going to flow well thru the tiny area involved, i.e. it would take
hours using gravity. Plus you'd have a hard time telling when it was
full, although it's safe to assume that once you got the specified
amount (approx 3 3/4 quarts) in it was full. That is not as easy as
it sounds because you will tend to spill/leak quite a bit.

How are you trying to remove the filler plug? You should be using the
correct (10mm) square socket, NOT an open end wrench. I can't imagine
the socket with a good-sized breaker bar not doing the job, even if
it ripped the threads out of the trans case.

You could carefully use some heat, but remember that a)it's full of
oil, b) there's usually oil all over the outside, and c) it's
aluminum. Pretty risky if you don't have a feel for such things.
