The clear coating won't stick to the stainless. Thats the problem with painting SS..nothing wants to stick (as far as paint). From what I understand you have to etch the surface which would ruin the look if it were to be left "clear". If memory serves me correctly, weren't a few "tinted" clear coated panels uncovered when DMC closed that were "test" panels.
