Hmmmmmmmmmmmm..... Steve, if you're referring to the 2 prong plug with ROUND pins and a WHITE shell, vs flat female pins in square black plastic shells, then that is for the automatic transmission. It resides along the firewall not far from the ballast resistor as you described. If you have a 5- speed, then it isn't used. :) Also, near the W.O.T. (wide-open throttle) microswitch, there is a white, square plastic plug for the WOT switch, and a similar, BLACK, square plastic plug that is also for the automatic transmission.
