The cruise i took off my Ranger never had any problems with the cable getting pinched or falling off the spool. I have several times revved up my Delorean by the spool and i have never had the cable bind, unwind, get pinched, or whatever. All old cars with factory cruise had this same type of set-up and i never heard of any one of them having any problems with the cables and none of them were attached to the gas pedal that i know of. Also there is a vacuum line attached to the cruse unit and that would be one long vacuum line off the engine compartment because i wouldn't want to tap into any of the climate control lines. In other words there is no reason to have the cruise attached to the gas pedal since this has been proven unnecessary through out the years.
