Your experience with your car in front of the honky tonk is exactly why I stopped opening the doors at any but sanctioned car club shows. Whenever we go to a street festival where the general public is attending I always lock the doors and only open the hood for the engine. There are certain "slugs of society" that have no respect for other peoples property that ruin these events for the majority of the public. People ask do the doors work, wanting to see them up, and then I'll open them up which usually draws a large crowd, but then I'll close them back up.
