There are actually two places on each caliper at which the parking brake cable can be adjusted: the usual slotted adjusting screw, and the turnbuckle where the cable passes through its sheath holding bracket. If you can't pull enough slack out of the cable with the adjusting screw, loosen that turnbuckle and move it further from the caliper. BTW: Those nuts seem to be another instance of English fasteners on our little metric cars -- 14mm fits too snugly but 9/16" is perfect. You're not forgetting to release the parking brake before driving the car, are you? That will stretch a cable very quickly. I haven't investigated the lever mechanism itself yet -- does anybody know if slack can be taken up there as well, perhaps like a traditional parking brake cable yoke?
